Birmingham Pride 2019

Dear Friends,

We recognise that not all organisations have access to the budgets to allow them to get involved with Pride, so the Alliance Network is again forming a walking group of various organisations to march together and allow all Alliance members to have the opportunity to take part.

The Parade is on Saturday 25th May 2019 and we would love you and your group to join us! Last year was a great success with nearly 70 people marching together from 7 Midlands based organisations.

We will be marching under the Alliance banner, but we encourage you to wear your organisation's t-shirts and branding to get them noticed.

As numbers are limited, and we have already had a huge amount of interest, we have to operate on a first come first serve basis. Companies already confirmed include Cushman and Wakefield, Wesleyan, Irwin Mitchells. Mazars, EY, Mercers, Hays and Serco.

If you are interested in joining us, then please email mike.morgan@hays.com with your name, organisation, and approximate size of your group by close of play Friday 31st April 2019.

Over recent months there have been events and news stories locally, nationally, and internationally, concerning the LGBT+ community. The local issues around awareness and education in schools can be a divisive topic and has harboured some strong homophobic comment. Pride this year feels a really important way of recognising and celebrating inclusion for everyone in the city while support for the LGBT+ community.

Many thanks,

Paul Eaves-Seeley

    Why?

Many UK and Global Employer Networks are high profile and successful

Often activity and Sponsorship is much more visible in London

Many LGBT people who work in the Midlands don't have access to the same support

Smaller organisations won't have the resources or scale to develop networks

Work alongside Midland LGBT Employer Network but provide more specific advice and support to professional service organisations

Help drive the business case for inclusion in Midlands

Support individuals to be themselves at work and reach their full potential
